Neighborhood Watch Follow Up Meeting PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 18 October 2006

Our initial meeting was a success and we are well on the way to a Perryman Neighborhood Watch Program. The second meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at 7 pm at Clorox. At this meeting we will elect Block Captains and a Coordinator for the program.

We will need at least the same number of residents present and hopefully more will be able to attend. The number of residents present from north Park Beach, Ford’s Lane and Michaelsville/Johnson Lane was good, but Mitchell Drive only had 20% present, and if a greater number is not present on Nov. 1st, I’m concerned that Mitchell Drive may not be included in the program due to low participation. I will email Sgt Williams to see what happens in that case. So, Mitchell Drive residents, please talk to your neighbors and make every effort to be there on the 1st.  Everyone else also needs to remind any neighbors that missed the first meeting and see if there is anyone else who may have changed their mind and now wants to participate.

Sgt Williams sent me an email addressing the concerns from the first meeting. He said there is a “person of interest” for the murders and we should feel safe walking in the Perryman area, though he advised against walking along Route #40 especially at night. The burglaries have been investigated and a person is in custody. He has alerted his personnel to the speed problem, loitering on Golf Drive and parkers, and they will be talking to the businesses in the area and trying to increase patrol and enforcement as well.

Let’s keep the ball rolling and make our Neighborhood Watch Program official. Remember, November 1, 2006 at 7 pm at Clorox.

Sincerely,

Eleanora Dudderar, Chair

Neighborhood Watch Organizing Committee
