Sewage Overflow into Bush River at Aberdeen Proving Ground PDF Print E-mail

(WJZ) Edgewood, Md. The Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Edgewood Area of Aberdeen Proving Ground experienced a sewer system overflow between 1:00 and 6:00 a.m. July 6.

Approximately 1,082,610 gallons of partially treated sewage overflowed from the chlorination tank. In addition, between 2:00 and 5:30 a.m. an additional 23,940 gallons overflowed the plant and were discharged into the Bush River.

The Harford County Department of Health and the Maryland Department of the Environment were notified of the event.

The public should avoid water contact and fishing in the area for 30 days or until the water returns to normal. APG is monitoring the water quality.
